Three Generations of Sparks Family Service

The Sparks story began in 1936.  Roger’s grandfather, Roy Sparks, opened an International Harvester™ Farm Equipment Dealership in the area.

Roger’s father, Carl Sparks worked with Roy in the business.

They added Maytag™ and opened a feed store in conjunction with International Harvester™.

When Roy Sparks died in 1956, Carl assumed control of the businesses and became an American Motors™ Auto Dealership in 1959.

Due to a change in farming trends, he phased out International Harvester™ and expanded the auto dealership.

The GMC™ Truck Dealership was acquired in 1967 and in 1975 when American Motors™ bought Willy’s Motor Co, and Sparks took on the Jeep™ distributorship.

Roger Sparks grew up in the business and can be seen as a youngster in many of the early dealership photos. Roger went off to college and returned in 1976 to become more active in the family dealership.

With Roger’s help they began extensive promotion of Jeep™ and GMC™, expanding parts and service departments. They worked hard to better serve their customer base and expanded their territory past the Washington County lines.

The Jeep™ dealership became one of the largest producing dealerships in the entire Midwest.

Roger Sparks also developed the Ozark Eagle. The Ozark Eagle was the most dressed out Jeep of the time, far ahead of anything else Jeep offered at the time.

In 1985, Sparks took on the Buick™ and Pontiac™ franchises which resulted in even greater expansion.

The Sparks reputation as a well-established business came from hard work to offer customers better service, parts, and reasonable deals at reasonable prices.

Roger sold the business in 1989 and eventually became an independent Used Car and Truck dealer.

Roger’s son, Damian, worked in the business with him and was the 4th generation representative until his untimely death in 2015.

Roger has been at his current location since 2000 and is still offering customers the best used car deals and value in the area!
